Why Sizing Matters
The most common buyer complaint is getting the wrong size. This is avoidable. The USFans spreadsheet includes size charts for most items. You just need to know how to measure and compare.
How to Measure Yourself
Use a soft measuring tape. Do not use a metal ruler or a string. Measure while wearing thin clothing. Stand straight and relaxed. Write down each measurement.
Clothing Measurements
- Chest: Measure under armpits, across the widest part
- Shoulder: Measure from shoulder tip to shoulder tip
- Length: Measure from back collar to hem
- Sleeve: Measure from shoulder seam to cuff
- Waist: Measure where you wear your pants
- Inseam: Measure from crotch to ankle
- Thigh: Measure the widest part of your thigh
Shoe Measurements
Measure your insole length in centimeters. Place your foot on a piece of paper. Mark the heel and the longest toe. Measure the distance. Compare with the spreadsheet size chart. Most shoes run 0.5-1 size large.
Step 1
Place your foot on a piece of paper against a wall.
Step 2
Mark the longest toe and the heel on the paper.
Step 3
Measure the distance in centimeters with a ruler.
Step 4
Compare with the spreadsheet size chart. Add 0.5-1cm for comfort room.
How to Read the Spreadsheet Size Chart
The size chart shows the garment measurements, not the body measurements. A hoodie with a 60cm chest measurement means the hoodie is 60cm across. Your chest measurement should be smaller than the garment measurement for a comfortable fit.
Chart Tip
Add 2-4cm to your body measurement for a comfortable fit. For an oversized fit, add 6-10cm. For a fitted look, add 0-2cm.
Category-Specific Sizing Advice
| Category | Fit | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Shoes | 0.5-1 size large | Size down 0.5. Width matters for SB models. |
| Hoodies | Oversized | Size down for fitted. True size for oversized. |
| T-shirts | Oversized | Check length. Size down if under 5 foot 9. |
| Pants | Vanity-sized | Measure your best pair. True measurements differ. |
| Jackets | True to size | Stay true to size for layering. Size down for fitted. |
| Headwear | One-size | Most caps are adjustable. Fitted caps need head measurement. |
What to Do If You Are Between Sizes
If you are between sizes, check the fabric type. Stretchy fabrics can accommodate a smaller size. Non-stretch fabrics need the larger size. When in doubt, size up for comfort.
